A judicial investigation was opened after the discovery on Friday 14 October in Paris of the body of Lola, a 12-year-old girl, in a trunk. Dead asphyxiated

The teenager’s parents, worried about not seeing her return from college, had alerted the police of the disappearance of their daughter and of the presence of this unknown young woman in the residence, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Eventually it was a 42-year-old homeless man who discovered an opaque plastic box containing the teenager’s body in the inner courtyard of the building where Lola’s family resides. The schoolgirl’s body was hidden by fabrics, according to sources close to the file. Two cabin suitcases have been placed next to the trunk.

An autopsy performed on Saturday determined that Lola had died of asphyxiation, a source close to the investigation said. The first results had reported significant injuries to her neck. A total of six people were arrested as part of this investigation by the Criminal Brigade of the Parisian judicial police. Four of them were released without trial at this stage. Multiple investigations were conducted in order to establish the sequence of events and the motive of the authors. The rectorate has announced the establishment of psychological support cells for the students and staff of the college where Lola studied and of the schools in the area.
