PEKANBARU – The news of grief has returned to the people of Pekanbaru City, Riau, because today, Friday (16/10/2020), there were two Covid-19 patients in the city who were reported dead.
“The sad news in Pekanbaru today is the addition of two patients who have died due to Covid-19, namely Mr. Y (63) and Mrs. HR (36) who are residents of Pekanbaru,” said Head of the Riau Province Health Service (Diskes), Mimi Yuliani. Nazir in Pekanbaru, Friday night.
With the addition of these two patients who died, said Mimi, the death cases due to Covid-19 in Riau would be 251 cases.
“Of the 11,096 cases handled in Riau, 251 of them died, independent isolation was 2,996 people, hospitalized 1,119 people and recovered 6,730 people,” he said.
Mimi also appealed to the public to continue to comply with health protocols to break the chain of spreading Covid-19 in Riau.
“Let’s discipline health protocol, for the sake of common health,” he said.
Previously reported, the Governor of Riau (Gubri), Syamsuar had even issued a decree from the Governor of Riau Number 248 / MKA / 2020 regarding compliance with local government policies in handling Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The governor explained that the announcement issued on October 15, 2020 was made to break the chain of Covid-19 spread and prevent the occurrence of new clusters during the 2020 simultaneous regional head elections.
So, said the Governor, this edict was issued while still referring to Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine; Government Regulation Number 21 of 2020 concerning Large-Scale Social Restrictions in the Context of Accelerated Handling of Corona Virus Disease 2019; Regulation of the General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2020 concerning the Second Amendment to the General Election Commission Regulation Number 6 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Elections for the Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau, the Regent and Deputy Regent and Mayor and Deputy Mayor Simultaneously Continued in Non-Natural Corona Virus Disaster Conditions Disease 2019; as well as data from the Riau people confirmed by Covid-19 as of October 14, 2020 until 08.51 WIB, recorded 10,338 people and 38,742 suspects and 230 people who died.
“There are three points in this announcement. In essence, we appeal to the public to obey health protocols by obliging to wear masks, keep their distance, wash their hands with soap and avoid crowds. This is solely to break the chain of spreading Covid-19 in Riau, “said the Governor of Pekanbaru, Thursday (15/10/2020).
The contents of the Governor of Riau’s edict regarding compliance with local government policies in handling Covid-19 are as follows:
1. Comply with the implementation of health protocols by implementing 4M, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, washing hands with soap with running water and avoiding crowds.
2. Not doing activities together, or gathering mass, gathered in a number of more than five people. Except for religious activities or other activities, which get permission from the authorities.
3. City regencies that carry out simultaneous regional head elections may collect a mass in the framework of a campaign with a maximum number of participants of 50 people, by complying with health protocols and prevailing laws and regulations. ***
