Two patients were rescued in a coma after COVID-19 in Velingrad

Two coronavirus patients rescued in coma for more than a week at Velingrad hospital, reported bTV.

Their condition has stabilized, but both remain in the COVID ward of the hospital.

These are a 39-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man.

“The woman became critically ill with regard to the respiratory system. She was placed in artificial lung ventilation almost immediately. Shortly afterwards, she fell into a coma, which lasted approximately 12 days,” explained Dr. Georgi Shopov, a surgeon. currently head of the COVID department.

The 39-year-old patient has no established chronic diseases. It is a mystery to doctors why she fell into a coma. It is thought to be due to respiratory failure caused by the virus.

The 57-year-old man was also in a very serious condition and was immediately placed on pulmonary ventilation. With him, things went in a similar way as with the woman.

Such complications of coronavirus infection are increasingly being reported, Dr. Shopov commented.
