Employees at Kongsberg Hospital say that two of those who were injured on Wednesday night, died after they had arrived at the hospital.
Kongsberg Hospital was put on high alert when they received the first reports on Wednesday night about the ongoing attack and that several were injured. Three of those affected were transported to the hospital with such serious injuries that life-saving first aid was given.
– Two of the people died and one was sent on to Drammen hospital, says chief anesthesiologist Hege Paulsrud at Kongsberg hospital to NRK.
– It was at first a somewhat surreal situation we were facing. It was a little difficult to believe when we suddenly brought in obviously life-threatening, seriously injured people, she continues.
Colleague Stian Kristoffersen, who is chief physician at the medical department, says that many of the employees who worked with the patients are very affected. Hege Paulsrud says it was the injuries to the patient that made the strongest impression.
– There are very many who worked very hard yesterday who are very affected today. There were very strong impressions that we will not forget, I think, says Paulsrud.
On Thursday afternoon, Vestre Viken health trust informs that the patient who was transferred to Drammen hospital has been discharged.
– Thus, there are no patients who can be linked to the violent incident at Kongsberg admitted to Vestre Viken. Both Kongsberg hospital and prehospital services have now gone out of readiness, the health trust states.
