The interesting thing is that one of them is a Nintendo console…
The fan PC version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64 was made by Ship of Harkinian. (By the way, the name is a reference to King Harkinian, who talked about a ship in the intro in the game Wand of Gamelon released on Philips CD-i.) The team announced the developments in a new video (Ship of Harkinian Direct, free after the Nintendo Direct) about a PC transcript that has been in the works for a long time.
The port now runs on Mac OS as well as Nintendo Wii Un, and new features have been added to the transcript. Free camera management mode, quick buttons can be placed on the D-Pad so that equipment can be put on with the press of a button (tunic, shoes); the game can run up to 250 FPS thanks to the 250 Hz support, but there is also an item randomizer mode, plus we can access new cheats. So anyone who is bothered by how fragile Link is even if he falls, can remedy this by reducing the fall damage.
The look christened Rachel Alfa is the team Discordjan is available, and the new features can be viewed in the video embedded below. The Ship of Harkinian team got here anyway after two years of work, because the game’s code was completely recoded into the C code language, which makes it easier to work with. The port already supports HD graphics, ultra-wide screen resolutions, keyboard, modding, force feedback, and gyroscopic aiming.
Today we wrote about Banjo-Kazooie’s decryption project (it’s at 80%), but they were overtaken by Mario 64 back in 2019. The opening title of the Nintendo 64 quickly received a lot of mods: it got new graphics, ray tracing was introduced, and it is possible that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will follow the same path. And the best part is that Nintendo cannot legally stop the project. If the leaked source code was not used, there is no infringement! You need the original game for the port anyway.
