Two new medals for Var table tennis players at the Tokyo Paralympic Games

And seven! Olympique Hyères Toulon Provence Méditerranée player Thu Kamkasomphou (52) signed her seventh Paralympic podium in Tokyo this Wednesday in six appearances at the Games. With her Rhone partner Anne Barnéoud from the Gerland club, the Varoise won bronze in the team in classes 6-8.

After the individual bronze (class 8) gleaned last weekend, she will leave the country of Mount Fuji with two new medals. A good performance despite a final elimination (defeat two matches to zero) against the formidable favorite Chinese pair made up of Jingdian Mao and Wenjuan Huang.

Nansais Fabien Lamirault will aim for a gold double on Friday

On the men’s side, Fabien Lamirault (41), from Nans-les-Pins in the Var center, continues his golden momentum. After the individual gold obtained Monday in class 2, the Varois licensed at Marseille Provence table tennis disabled managed to qualify in the final of the team competition in classes 1-2 with his Moselle partner Stéphane Molliens (Moulins-lès- Metz disabled).

Already reigning Paralympic champions, the French overcame Slovakia this Wednesday in the half. In the final, they will face South Korea on Friday in Tokyo at the Metropolitan Gymnasium. One thing is certain, the Varois Fabien Lamirault will try to keep his double in gold in Rio.
