Cigdem Bern new head of division III

The 42-year-old Cigdem Bern will in future be responsible for Division III – Internal Administration, Citizen Service and Fire Brigade. The city council elected them unanimously, with the CDU faction abstaining. After graduating from high school in Dortmund, the native Turkish decided to study law in Giessen. She passed the second state examination with a focus on labor law. From 2007 to 2016 she worked at the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks in Münster and Bonn, initially in the Human Resources and Organization division, later as a consultant in the board area and head of the “Strategic Purchasing Management” department. She then moved to the city of Bad Honnef as first alderman, where she was responsible for education, sport, culture, youth, social affairs, asylum and order, but also for the citizens’ office and the fire brigade. As an alderman of the city of Viersen, she had the department for education, culture, sport, children, youth, family, social affairs and housing under her own since February 2019.

Sabine Lauxen is the new head of Division VI

Sabine Lauxen comes to Krefeld for business division VI – Environment and Consumer Protection, Social Affairs, Senior Citizens, Housing and Health. A secret ballot was requested in the city for their election. 31 council members voted with “yes”, 26 with “no”, there was one abstention. The 56-year-old political scientist was last in Oberhausen as an alderman for the environment, health and mobility. She was born in Darmstadt and graduated from high school in Munich. Sabine Lauxen first studied business administration, then political science, sociology and international law. In the first few years of her professional life she worked as a press spokeswoman, among others for the parliamentary group of the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia, for the Federal Ministry of Health and finally from 2001 to 2005 as deputy government spokeswoman in the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia. From 2005 to 2012 she was deputy department head for consumer protection in the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, before moving from there to the city of Oberhausen.

Application and selection procedures have taken place for both positions in the council. The city has secured the external support of an agency for management and personnel consulting.
