Friday morning the collapse of a portion of the glacier on the Grand Combin, a mountain of over 4,300 meters in Switzerland, has provoked two dead – one French and one Spanish – and nine injured in a large group of climbers, Swiss police said. A total of 17 people were involved, rescued by various helicopters: the accident occurred early in the morning, after six, at an altitude of about 3,400 meters. To break away were some seracs, the typical surface formations of glaciers: usually it happens because of the heat, especially in the afternoon, but these days the temperatures are unusually high and the freezing point is at a high altitude.
