Two motorcyclists die over the weekend in Chelsea and Winchester

A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Chelsea on Sunday evening.

The scene occurred around 6:30 p.m., on Chemin du Lac Meech. According to the MRC des Collines police service, resuscitation procedures were performed on the victim, a 30-year-old man from Gatineau.

His death was confirmed at Hull Hospital a little later.

Investigators were present at the scene of the accident until approximately 4 a.m. to establish the causes and circumstances of the event.

A coroner’s inquest is underway.

Motorcyclist dies in Winchester on Friday

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that a 31-year-old motorcyclist died Friday.

Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP say a collision occurred between a motorcycle and a car shortly after 6 a.m. Friday on Bank Street, northwest of Winchester. Both vehicles were travelling northbound at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to a regional trauma centre. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly before 6 p.m., the OPP said in a news release.

The driver of the car was not injured. Provincial police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
