The U20 World Cup in Lima is underway and in the first session on Thursday we had to see some good Swedish performances. William Trulsson was third fastest in the test round and is ready for the semi-finals in the 200 meters. And Malin Garbell threw the final last place in the hammer qualification.
The first session on the third day of the U20 World Cup has offered two advances for Sweden. Malmö AI William Trullson very pleased with his test heat of 200 meters. In each heat, the top two advanced to the final and eight times more.
William ran in the eighth and last attempt heat and got away well, but above all it was the finish that won him over. In the race there were a couple of runners in front of him, but with about fifty meters to go, he pushed on and slipped away from the rest of the field and finished first in a good time of 20.99. When all the heats were run, it was clear that 21.53 was needed to reach the final. William Trulsson’s time was good enough for third place in the trials series with only Australia’s Gout Gout and USA’s Jaden Wiley ahead of him. They ran 20.77 and 20.93 respectively.
The 200 meter semi-finals will be run at 00.10 on Friday evening.
Malin Garbell took last place

The last defeat by Engla Nilsson
It would take 1.80 to get to the women’s height final, which is Örgrytes Angela Nilsson also over. Unfortunately, she only got the highest grade in the second attempt and it was too much for her to make it to the final. She stayed in 14th place in the barracks where the top twelve went on.
There was no progress for the Turebergs either Saviola Mbugua Waithira in 110 meter hurdles. The top two in each heat and a further eight advanced to the semi-finals.
