Two more suspects detained due to threat Rotterdam teacher | NOW

The police carried out two new arrests on Saturday in connection with the threat to a teacher from a Rotterdam school who had a cartoon in his classroom. Friday became another eighteen-year-old woman arrested. She has since been sent away, but she is still a suspect in the case.

The new suspects are a seventeen-year-old boy from Amsterdam and an eighteen-year-old man from The Hague. They are suspected of threats and incitement.

The previously arrested woman from Rotterdam is suspected of incitement: she would have posted a message on social media as a result of which others “committed criminal offenses against the school and teacher”, according to the law enforcement.

The teacher of the Emmaus College in Rotterdam went into hiding after the threats, reported NRC Wednesday evening.

A cartoon by cartoonist Joep Bertrams about the attack hung in the room Charlie Hebdo. The drawing depicted a headless man in one Charlie Hebdoshirt sticking out his tongue at the jihadist who just beheaded him. According to NRC the cartoon had been hanging in the classroom for five years.

Because the investigation is still ongoing, the Public Prosecution Service and the police will not make any further statements.
