Two more arrests under investigation into Nice | NOW

French police arrested two more people in the investigation into the attack in Nice on Saturday, a police source reports to a news agency on Sunday Reuters. These are the fifth and sixth arrests after the attack on Thursday morning. The persons are 25 and 63 years old.

Both suspects would come from the town of Grasse, which is close to Nice. Their possible role in the attack is still unknown.

The other suspects arrested include an alleged accomplice of the perpetrator and a family member of another suspect. The perpetrator himself, a 21-year-old Tunisian, is in hospital.

The Tunisian raided a church in Nice with a knife on Thursday morning. He is said to have carried a Quran and shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is the greatest). In the church he stabbed three people to death and is said to have beheaded one of them.

The man was shot upon his arrest. The man is said to have come to Europe via the Italian island of Lampedusa earlier this year and therefore did not stay in France for long.
