“Two months of hell”: residents of Gironde who suffered massive postal delays

About 25,000 letters are waiting to be distributed according to the unions. Since the opening of the new mail distribution center in Gujan-Mestras (Gironde) in mid-June, residents of the Arcachon basin have noticed significant delays, reports France 3 New Aquitaine . Posters only come once a week, which angers users.

Organizational problem

The posters, too, are tired. “Two Months of Hell”confirmed by Xavier Dauga, South PTT union. The latter attributes that delay to the reorganization implemented by La Poste. According to him, the consolidation of distribution centers has reduced the number of daily trips, making them “impossible”.

Also in question is the widespread use of temporary workers, often poorly trained and poorly paid. So the postmen find themselves with longer journeys, all departing from the new centre, and now using cargo bikes, which are not suitable for carrying mail and parcels.

With information from our colleagues, the management of Poste Nouvelle-Aquitaine recognized “flowing” linked to the start of the new centre, but ensuring that the situation is improving and that a return to normal is coming back. And to add to that“There was an unexpected absence this summer. » However, for the unions, only better organization and permanent recruitment will make it possible to solve this crisis.
