Two Months, 44 Kendari City Residents Affected by DHF

“From early January to February, most dengue patients were found in Wua-Wua District”

KENDARI, TELISIK.ID – There have been 44 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Kendari City over the past two months. This is in accordance with data from the Kendari City Health Office (Dinkes).

The head of the Kendari City Health Office, Rahminingrum said, from early January to February, the most dengue patients were found in Wua-Wua District.

“Of the 44 cases, Wua-Wua District has the highest number, 11 cases were found,” he said, Tuesday (15/3/2022).

In addition to Wua-Wua District, West Kendari District was recorded as the second largest contributor to dengue cases, namely 10 people, Kadia District 7 people, Puuwatu and Baruga Districts each 6 people, and Poasia District 4 people.

According to Rahminingrum, DHF is an annual disease because almost all urban villages in Kendari City are in endemic areas.

“DHF cases in 2018 were indeed quite high compared to the following years,” he said.

Rahminingrum also explained that the disease caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito can attack anyone.

Even so, most DHF patients are people of productive age who have high mobility.

“The Aedes aegypti mosquito bites in the morning and evening, so if you are active at those times, you can get infected,” he said.

Furthermore, he said, if someone already has symptoms of dengue fever, immediately go to a health facility such as the nearest health center or hospital to get treatment.

“Later, the Puskesmas or the hospital will report to the Health Office and then we will check whether there are a lot of larvae in the house in question or in his neighbors,” he said.

He revealed, a healthy environment should have a larva-free rate past 95 percent.

“This means that from 100 houses a maximum of 5 houses have larvae, if it exceeds that, it means that the larva-free rate is bad,” he explained.

Furthermore, if it meets the indicator of a low larvae-free rate and there are people with symptoms of DHF, then fogging will be carried out immediately.

Meanwhile, a resident of Wua-Wua sub-district, Lisa Hasriani, said that one of her family members was infected with dengue fever.

“One of my family who lives in Baruga also has dengue fever,” he told Telisik.id

Lisa also explained that on average the children affected by DHF cases, as happened to one of her family.

“He is still 8 years old and is still in the hospital,” he explained. (B)
