Two MLS clubs and the ‘U’ would fight for his signing

‘La Pulga’ has informed the Seattle Sounders board that he will not continue with the team until 2025. It has also been revealed that there are two MLS clubs that want to sign him.

Raúl Ruidíaz has already made a decision for 2025 and that is why he has informed the Seattle Sounders management that he will not renew with the institution. And this has led to the revelation that there are two MLS clubs that are trying to sign him. What will happen with Universitario?

This information was given by the portal ‘Sounder At Heart’, who have indicated that the ‘Pulga’ had a conversation with the owners of the club to express that he is not happy with his stay because he lacks play and because there is even a division of players within the locker room.

“Raul Ruidiaz has informed the Seattle Sounders that he is unhappy with his current situation and will not be returning to the team in 2025, according to multiple sources. Ultimately, Sounder at Heart has been told, a lack of playing time, division within the locker room and a feeling that he has been undervalued have affected the club’s all-time leading scorer enough that he does not envision a return as a possibility,” they mentioned.

Seattle Sounders do not close the door to a renewal

Likewise, the same media outlet stated that the ‘Pulga’ is frustrated because he feels too attached to the club, regretting that the relationship he has with coach Brian Schmetzer has affected his performance. However, they said that Sounders is still willing to talk to him to reach an agreement, despite the fact that the Peruvian no longer has any intentions of continuing at the club.

“All of this has been compounded by what was described as a deteriorating relationship with head coach Brian Schmetzer over the past two years, a drop in morale among several players and a locker room that, we’re told, ‘no longer has the unity, camaraderie and serenity it once had.’ It appears the atmosphere around the clubhouse was also a factor in Ruidiaz’s decision,” they said.

“Regardless of how Ruidíaz feels, sources have indicated that the Sounders remain open to revisiting negotiations. But all indications are that Ruidíaz intends to at least test the waters of free agency for the first time in his career,” they added.

What will be the future of Ruidíaz?

What Sounders At Heart says is that there is a great interest from Universitario de Deportes to bring Raúl Ruidíaz back, but there is also a Liga MX club and institutions such as New England Revolution and Atlanta United that want to sign him for this new season. What’s more, they indicated that the national attacker’s desire is to stay in the MLS.

“While there is already an undisclosed Liga MX team closely monitoring the former Golden Boot winner, I believe MLS teams will have the advantage when it comes to pursuing the experienced attacker in the offseason. From a financial standpoint, without impacting his family’s current lifestyle, and based on past conversations, I know Ruidíaz would like to remain in MLS. What reinforces that possibility is that both the New England Revolution and Atlanta United showed serious interest in Ruidíaz in the summer transfer window and were close to finalizing a deal. Either team could make a serious offer to sign the forward this winter,” they concluded.
