Cubans took to social networks to report an unfortunate event that occurred in the province of Camagüey, where two minors lost their lives after drowning while fishing.
The tragic event occurred last Wednesday, April 17, in the Concordia batey, located near the Batalla de las Guásimas sugar mill, about 22 kilometers from the city of Vertientes.
According to Internet user María Estrella Cruz, who shared what happened in the Facebook group ‘Revolico Batalla de las Guásimas’, the deceased young people were only 14 and 16 years old.
The incident was lamented by several Internet users, who could not help but point out the age of the deceased.
“We are all mourning the great loss of those two little angels who were just beginning to live. May his soul rest in peace. My most sincere condolences to family and friends,” wrote user Iralis Pupos.
The situation generated indignation among the Cuban community, since the local authorities did not comment on the matter, this despite the fact that the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, and the Prime Minister of the Island, Manuel Marrero, visited the health centers. of Vertientes the day after the tragedy.
In the case of Marrero, he was also in the Batalla de las Guásimas sugar mill, located a few kilometers from where the minors drowned. This attitude reflects a total disconnection on the part of the leaders, who seem to ignore local tragedies.
“Marrero visited the Batalla de las Guásimas plant. A few kilometers away, two boys, ages 14 and 16, drowned while fishing in Concordia, probably to have something to eat. This despicable leader, who a few days ago was seen singing half drunk, has gone to Concordia to offer his condolences to the families of the deceased? Surely not,” criticized Luis Enrique Perdomo.
At the moment, the details of what happened are unknown, but it is known that they were fishing in the San Pedro River at the time of the tragedy.
