TIJUANA – Two minors were vaccinated against Covid in the territory of Baja California by court order that was presented to the Ministry of Health and that was complied with, confirmed the Secretary of State Health, Alonso Oscar Pérez Rico.
The official declined to provide further details on the vaccination of the minors.
He explained that this action does not mean accelerating the process in this age range, since they follow a national vaccination plan.
He pointed out that the guidelines for minors between 12 and 17 years old are about to be released in relation to the dates, as was done with the rest of the population and said that the only legal vaccine authorized for this population is that of Pfizer.
“We are all welcome to carry out any action aimed at health and safety, at the end of the day there is a national vaccination plan and everything is subject to the input, the vaccine,” said Pérez Rico, in relation to whether he had knowledge of more parents who seek to apply the measure of protection for the application of the vaccine to minors.
Pérez Rico reported that there are 1,350 active cases of Covid in the entity, of that number 1,198 are with mild symptoms, 91 are hospitalized and 61 are under mechanical ventilation.
“We have to prepare, take care of ourselves, the strong winter season is coming. You don’t have to go to the red (at the epidemiological traffic light, let’s go green, in Baja California we are pioneers and innovators, we know how to take care of ourselves and we will get ahead, ”he said.
The Secretary of Health presented the geolocation map of neighborhoods with more active Covid cases, where it is necessary to reinforce personal and community protection measures.
In Mexicali they are the Valle del Pedregal, Victoria Residencial, Independencia, Villa las Lomas, Esperanza, Villas de la República, Hacienda del Río, Villa Colonial, Hidalgo and Villa del Rey Quinta Etapa colonies.
In the Valley of Mexicali the ejidos Guadalupe Victoria, Ciudad Coahuila, Nuevo León, Querétaro, Delta-Oaxaca and Ciudad Morelos; in San Felipe: Baja Marina, Third Section (Los Gavilanes) and First Section (San Felipe).

Currently, the Covid hospital occupancy in Baja California is 48.27 percent, with 193 beds available, 188 ventilators available, 152 hospitalized patients (confirmed by laboratory) and the effective reproduction rate of 1.25.
With regard to the figures of people infected by COVID-19 in our entity, the SISVER (national) platform reports at the cutoff of midnight on August 23, that 147 thousand 235 cases have been studied, of which 55 thousand 805 were positive .
In Tijuana there are 20,451 patients; 21,404 in the city of Mexicali; Ensenada 7,965; Rosarito 1,307; Tecate with 1,759; in San Quintín / Vicente Guerrero 2,174 and San Felipe 745.
Regarding deaths from coronavirus, they report accumulated 8,936. Tijuana with 4,084, Mexicali 3,288; Ensenada 1,199; Tecate 197; Rosarito 31; San Quintín / Vicente Guerrero with 127 and San Felipe 10 deaths.
Baja California increased its active cases, 1,350 in total, divided as follows: Mexicali: 345, Tijuana: 559 Ensenada: 254, San Quintín: 60, Playas de Rosarito: 67, Tecate: 51 and San Felipe: 14.
