Two Men Found Dead on Brooklyn Subway Tracks After 911 Call – NBC New York

Authorities found two men dead on the Brooklyn subway tracks after a subway Line 3 operator called 9-1-1 to report an accident early Wednesday, police said. Both people were already dead and could have been hit by another train the night before.

The operator noticed the two people on the track north of the S stationutter Avenue-Rutland Road in Brownsville shortly after 6:45 am and notified police and firefighters, who responded, according to MTA sources familiar with the case.

Both people were dead at the scene, the sources said, adding that their bodies were found in close proximity to each other. Both were men believed to be homeless.

Train service was shut down in the area for hours as authorities investigated. More than 1,000 passengers on the Line 3 train that stopped to call 9-1-1 had to be helped by a rescue train that responded to the scene.

It was not immediately clear what the men were doing on the tracks when they died. No other details about them were publicly known as of early Wednesday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
