Two men fall to the subway tracks in Manhattan in different cases; one of them dies – NBC New York (47)

Two New York City train passengers, in separate cases, fell onto train tracks in Manhattan on Saturday, New York City Police announced. One of them passed away.

According to the authorities’ report, the first case occurred at about 6:40 pm when a 30-year-old man fell on the rails of the northbound C Line train at the 34th Street and 8th Avenue station. The man had no contact with the train, but with the third rail, which is where the trains take electricity.

He was transported to Bellevue Hospital and later died, the uniformed officer said.

The second case occurred an hour later, at about 7:43 pm, when a 58-year-old man fell on the tracks of the same line at 34th Street and Sixth Avenue, police said. The man had no contact with the train or the third rail and did not accept medical attention at the scene, police said.

It is unknown how both passengers ended up on the train tracks.

The cases are under investigation.
