National Police agents attached to the Superior Headquarters of La Rioja have arrested two men, aged 40 and 61, with no prior records, the first of them as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of theft of jewelry while carrying out repairs at a home, and the second of the men as the alleged perpetrator of a reception crime.
The investigation began as a result of the victim’s complaint, who stated that in January, he had a water leak problem, for which in order to repair it, he reported it to the insurance company, sending said personal insurance to be repaired. a plumber and a mason, who made the appropriate repair.
The injured party realizing two days after the aforementioned repair, that they had stolen jewelry from the interior of her home for a value of 70,000 euros without there being any symptoms of tampering in any of the accesses to her home.
The Specialized and Violent Crime Unit of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade began an investigation, verifying that the person that the insurance company had sent to the victim to carry out the alleged repair had stolen the pieces of jewelry and had subsequently sold them. the pieces that correspond to the jewels, denounced by the victim, in a gold-buying establishment in Logroo.
Subsequently, after the corresponding verifications through the sales contracts of the gold-buying establishments, it was found that the perpetrator of the thefts had subsequently gone to a gold-buying-selling house in Logroo and had sold the jewels.
However, the investigation indicated that not all the jewels were registered as sold in the gold-buying house, thus avoiding police checks that are carried out periodically, a circumstance that evidenced a desire to conceal them.
For this reason, the police officers of the Robbery Group of the National Police practiced various procedures and once with the results of the same, when verifying irregularities, they proceeded to the arrest of the person in charge of the establishment as the alleged perpetrator of a reception crime, this being a male. , 61 years old, of Spanish origin with no police record.
Part of the jewel pieces have been recovered and delivered to their rightful owner.
