Two Men Arrested for Stealing Luggage from Trains in Cologne: Video Proof Captures Events

Two men are said to have stolen luggage from two trains at Cologne Central Station and Cologne Messe/Deutz Station on Sunday (March 3rd). At around 9:15 a.m. they took a suitcase from an ICE train parked at the Cologne Messe/Deutz train station and left the building. The police were informed about the incident, officers identified the 57-year-old victim and initiated criminal proceedings.

After the suspects again entered an ICE waiting there at around 1:30 p.m. – this time in Cologne Central Station – and left a short time later with a suitcase and a bag, federal police officers became aware of them. When the men packed the contents of several pieces of luggage into bags, the officers arrested them.

Cologne: Video recordings prove the events

Video recordings and police investigations documented both events and led to the identification of the perpetrators. The young men were taken into police custody. On Monday (March 4), a judge issued an arrest warrant for her. Both now have to answer for three cases of particularly serious theft.

The 57-year-old victim has already gotten his suitcase back, worth around 4,000 euros. The owners of the other two pieces of luggage should also receive their property back promptly. (red)
