Two men arrested after a major fight between hard core Feyenoord and Utrecht in the garage Utrecht

The police arrested two Feyenoord supporters on Saturday for assaulting a group of Utrecht supporters in January this year. It concerns a 37-year-old Rotterdammer and a 25-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel.

It is Wednesday evening, January 12, around 8 p.m. when out of nowhere a group of men dressed in the dark – wearing black clothes, hoods on – storm into the parking garage under the canteen of the Utrecht football club UVV and the fitness branch of Sportcity. A group of Utrecht residents becomes mugged while doing boxing training in the parking garage.

A man being harassed between parked cars yells ‘I don’t belong, I don’t belong’. There are serious blows, the panic is audible and a number of people are injured in the confrontation.

Two teams from the UVV football club training on a nearby field – boys under 17 – do not know what they are experiencing when they hear the noise that echoes from the parking garage over the sports park. They stay out of harm’s way. The police are called, but when they arrive at the scene of the fight, the Feyenoord supporters have already left for their cars.

The basic team of the Utrecht-Centrum police, in collaboration with the football unit of the police, is starting an investigation into the abuse. And that leads to two men. It concerns a 37-year-old man from Rotterdam and a 25-year-old man from Capelle aan den IJssel. They were arrested Saturday morning. Both men are in custody for questioning.

Multiple arrests are not ruled out.
