The loot of the spiral is estimated at over 175,000 euros
Two people were arrested yesterday (14-03-2024) in the evening in Ioannina by police officers of the Ioannina Security Sub-Directorate, against whom a criminal case was filed for criminal organization, aggravated theft and weapons legislation.
In particular, it is a citizen and a foreigner, who were identified after a months-long investigation by the police of the above service, from which it emerged that together with unknown accomplices they had joined with the purpose of committing thefts from houses in the wider area of the Ioannina basin.
In terms of modus operandi, the members of the spiral, which has been active since the end of 2022, carefully selected the houses they would break into, having previously inspected them, in order to ensure their entry into them in the absence of their occupants.
They then breached entry points and, proceeding to an extensive search of the houses, took sums of money, pounds, jewelry and expensive clothing, while in two cases they took a safe and in another case a sniper rifle.
The police investigation has identified the spiral’s involvement in 4 thefts and the same number of attempts, while their loot is estimated to exceed 175,000 euros.
In the context of the investigations that followed after the arrest of the accused, the following were seized:
- I.X.E. car, in which the arrested persons were found to be riding,
- number of burglary tools,
- women’s bag and wristwatch, coming from one of the above cases of theft,
- 5 mobile phones and
- knife
The two arrested will be taken to Mr. Plemmeleiodikis Prosecutor of Ioannina, while the investigation of the Ioannina Security Sub-Directorate to discover the identity of their accomplices continues.
