Two knife incidents in a short time in Oslo

The police first moved out to Dælenenggata by Carl Berner after receiving reports of a threatening situation. There, the police got control of a person who is suspected of having threatened another with a knife inside an apartment.

While the police were there, they received a report of a man walking with a large knife in Thorvald Meyers gate on Grünerløkka. The police got control of him without anyone being injured.

– There is no connection between the two cases, but we were close, so we were quickly in place, says operations manager in the Oslo police Cathrine Silju to NTB.

– In the threat situation at Dælenenga, it was people who knew each other who were involved. We do not know the background to the knife threats, says the operations manager.

A witness to the threatening incident at Dælenenga tells NTB that he experienced the arrest as violent, and that the man who was arrested was bitten by a police dog. The Oslo police confirm this, and say the man has been taken to the emergency room.

– We had to use pepper spray and a police dog on the accused. He was bitten by the police dog. He is in the emergency room to check out the bite injuries, says operations manager Gjermund Stokkli to NTB.

– The feedback we have received is that we had to use force, but not more force than necessary. Reports must be written routinely when we have used force, says Stokkli.
