Two killer whales live on Cadzand beach, one animal is in serious condition | animals

On Saturday, two live killer whales stranded on the beach in the seaside resort of Cadzand in Zeeland. One of the animals has found its way back to the sea. The other orca was helped back to sea by the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM). The danger has not yet passed for that animal, SOS Dolfijn told NU.nl.

The prla arrived offshore after the rescue, but again encountered problems about a mile away. This means that the animal can run aground again. According to director Annemarie van den Berg, it is an adult animal about 5 meters long. SOS Dolphin will continue to monitor the situation for the time being.

It is rare for a live whale to wash ashore in the Netherlands. The last time was in 2010. Orca Morgan was then taken from the Wadden Sea near Lauwersoog, very weakened. The animal went to the Harderwijk Dolfinarium for a year and a half. Morgan then moved to a Spanish theme park in Tenerife.

Killer whales can be recognized by their black and white color. Mammals can grow up to 10 meters in length. They are distributed in the oceans and seas of the world. Especially in colder waters. Sometimes they even swim in the North Sea.
