"Two killed by Russian missiles just over the border in Poland"

The rockets landed in the Polish village of Przewodów. As a result, two people died. A US intelligence source told the AP news agency that these are Russian missiles aimed at Ukraine. The Pentagon cannot yet confirm this.

Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki has urgently convened the National Security Council. The members are now reunited. Morawiecki’s spokesman says so on Twitter that there is a “crisis situation”, without explaining it. More information is expected after the meeting.

Firefighters tell Polish media that firefighters are at the scene and it is still unclear what happened. Przewodów is located just across the border from Ukraine, north of Lviv, and has a population of 700.

Article 4 deals with threats to territorial integrity or security. Article 5 can be invoked in the event of an attack on a country. At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Poland already invoked Article 4. It saw the Russian invasion of a neighboring country as a threat to its own security. NATO then sent more troops to the eastern flank of the territory.”
