Two people were killed and 12 were injured in a shooting that broke out between traffickers and the gendarmerie in Siirt district, southeastern Turkey, Siirt’s Welsh community was quoted as saying by Turkish television NTV.
The riots erupted after the gendarmerie signaled to stop a truck driver in the town of Pervari. However, he did not obey. The driver passed the gendarmerie at high speed and opened fire on them.
Gendarmerie teams also fired on the truck, killing two migrants and injuring 12. The driver of the truck was detained.
It turned out that there were 84 migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan in the truck driven by a trafficker. Some people have escaped. Other smugglers may have escaped with them. An operation was undertaken to capture them.
