Massachusetts Port Authority Reports No Injuries in the Incident

Two JetBlue planes, with passengers onboard, made contact with each other in a de-icing area at Boston Logan International Airport, as stated by the Massachusetts Port Authority.

The incident occurred when one plane’s winglet touched the tail section of another plane but resulted in no reported injuries, according to Massport.

JetBlue’s spokesperson confirmed the incident, remarking that both planes were taken out of service to undergo repairs.

Passengers’ Experiences During the Incident

In a statement regarding the incident, a passenger named Ryan Bates shared his account. Flight 777 to Las Vegas was one of the planes involved. Bates described feeling a sudden jolt and hearing passengers scream. Upon opening his window shade, he noticed that the planes were in close proximity, with one sustaining damage. Bates reported that the announcement regarding the incident was made after passengers’ confusion arose as to what had taken place.

JetBlue’s Focus on Safety

JetBlue’s spokesperson assured that safety remains a priority and that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident. JetBlue flights 777 to Las Vegas and 551 to Orlando will now operate on alternative aircraft.

No Injuries but Recent Similar Incidents at Logan Airport

Fortunately, there were no injuries resulting from the collision of the JetBlue planes. However, this incident marks the third plane collision at Boston Logan International Airport within a year. In March, a United Airlines plane bound for Newark collided with another United plane headed to Denver. Another collision occurred in June, involving a United Airlines plane and a parked Delta Air Lines plane. In both prior incidents, no injuries were reported.
