EasyJet flight EZY8120 from Corfu to London made an emergency landing in Rome.
Turbulence at an altitude of 28,000 feet injured at least two crew members, prompting the plane’s captain to abort the flight.
The Airbus A320 departed from Corfu airport bound for London at noon on Wednesday with 181 passengers and crew.
According to information, the two crew members who were preparing to serve food were hit by the walls of the plane and injured.
The emergency landing took place at Rome’s Fiumicino airport and the passengers arrived in London on another plane of the company.
“The safety and welfare of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and our pilots are trained to manage turbulence incidents. The flight landed normally in Rome where customers were supported at the terminal and arrangements were made to replace the crew and aircraft to continue the flight to London Gatwick,” an EasyJet spokesperson told CNN.
