Two Injured in New York Amazon Warehouse Due to Red Crane Collapse.

NEW YORK — A crane collapse at an Amazon warehouse in a northern suburb of New York City sent two people to a local hospital, authorities said Friday.

Emergency services rushed to the construction site before 1 p.m. in Hawthorne, a tucked-away village in Westchester County off Saw Mill River Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed one person suffered a minor injury and another suffered “a more serious leg injury,” Mt. Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi said.

Helicopter footage of the scene showed the large red crane slumped to the ground next to the warehouse. What caused the crane to collapse is still being investigated.

Work on the site is on hold while investigators look into what happened.

Los local reports from last year identify the location as home to a forthcoming 150,000-square-foot distribution center for a mix of office and warehousing space.
