Two injured in Leiden due to fire escape collapse of student house

Two people were injured in a fire escape accident in Leiden. The two were smoking on the fire escape of a student house in the east of the city when the stairs came loose from the building and plunged down.

The fire service says that the two people fell down from the third floor and ended up under the fire escape. They were freed by firefighters and taken to hospital.

It is unclear how the stairs came down. The identities and injuries of the two victims have not yet been released. Several ambulances were called because of the incident.
