On Friday 30 December 2022, around 5.50 pm, a road accident occurred on the RN10, near Vitray-en-Beauce, involving two vehicles. A 33-year-old man, who was driving in the direction of Chartres, collided with another car carrying two children aged 6 and 8.

Distraught, the driver of the first vehicle was taken to Chartres hospital. “He would have fallen asleep at the wheel,” said Captain Cheick-Omar Fofana, second in command of the departmental company of the Châteaudun gendarmerie.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 43-year-old woman, was extricated and also transported to Chartres hospital. Traffic, which passed on a lane during the rescue intervention, was restored around 18:30.
