I have the impression that most people who set out to write world history flirt with the fact that it is really an impossible task. Still, there are many who try.
For history buffs in the post-war generation, Carl Grimberg’s 22-volume “Menneskenes liv og historie” was a door opener into world history. It became a bestseller. Now the books are on the scrap heap of history, the entire work is sold for a couple of hundred marks on Finn.
