Two High Court judges in Ireland have refused to hear a request by Ammi Burke for an inquiry into whether or not the detention of her brother, Simeon Burke, is lawful. Simeon, who is pursuing a barristers degree, has been remanded in custody since being escorted from the Court of Appeal on March 7 after being charged with a breach of the peace offence. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 17. The Burkes are seeking an inquiry under Article 40 of the Irish Constitution. However, the judges have ruled that Ammi Burke has no legal standing to request an inquiry.
