Lewis Hamiltons still does not want to end his racing career. But he’s already building a second pillar: because he wants to tell “meaningful stories”, the Formula 1 star sets up his own production company. Two film projects are already planned, one starring Brad Pitt.
Racing driver Lewis Hamilton is one of Formula 1’s biggest stars. Now the Brit is entering the world of cinema. As reported by the industry portal “Deadline”, Hamilton is founding his own production company called Dawn Apollo Films. The seven-time world champion also suggests that he wants to fully concentrate on the company after retirement.
Film and television productions will be created under the banner of Dawn Apollo Films. Two projects are already planned: a documentary on Hamilton’s journey to become a professional driver and an untitled Formula 1 film with Brad Pitt. It’s a project by “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski, who was previously reported. Hamilton is the executive producer of the film, in which Pitt will play a retired pilot. Both productions will be released via the Apple TV + streaming service.
Hamilton wants to tell “meaningful stories”.
“I’ve always liked movies,” Hamilton told Deadline. There are many productions that he finds inspiration and has always dreamed of working in this field someday. Hamilton wants to tell “meaningful stories” with his production company and inspire other people as well.
Documentation is currently slated to be released in late 2023 or early 2024. Since the script for the film with Pitt is currently in the works, there is no scheduled time slot here. It is also unclear if Hamilton could also be seen alongside the actor. Even if he has no plans to appear in the film, it’s not impossible.
In the interview, Hamilton assures that he still wants to focus entirely on motorsport as his main job. But if he says goodbye to Formula 1, which he hasn’t wanted to do for a while according to the current state, he would like to be able to guarantee a “seamless” transition. The 37-year-old wants to be able to “fully focus on Dawn Apollo Films”. Hamilton makes it known that he has big plans. With the production company he wants to act on a level comparable to that of motorsport.
