The Indonesia national team, which finished as runners-up in Group A, had the opportunity to host the first leg of the semi-finals of the 2022 AFF Cup at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), on Friday (6/1).
The brutal tackle incident happened in the 54th minute. Indonesian striker Dendy Sulistyawan, who was trying to catch the ball, was hit by Van Hau with two feet. Unfortunately referee Omar Mubarak Mazatoua Al Yaqoubi only gave Van Hau a yellow card without issuing a card.

“This is a foul by Van Hau, a very dangerous tackle,” said the commentator.

The crash wasn’t Van Hau’s only misbehavior. In second half stoppage time, Van Hau beat Ricky Kambuaya in the Vietnam penalty area.
The moment of the 90+2 minute started when Kambuaya and Van Hau were fighting for the ball. However, in a 50-50 situation, Kambuaya managed to touch the ball first.
When Kambuaya’s leg was still up, Van Hau fired a kick. Still no violations and sanctions for Indonesia. Although in Van Hau’s replay it was an absolute violation and Indonesia deserved a penalty.
“It had to be a penalty. We’re seeing it now. It had to be a penalty. Van Hau passed again,” said the commentator.
