Two fatal crashes with three deaths occurred within hours of the past night in Northeastern Bulgaria.
Two people died in a serious traffic accident, reported the ODMVR-Silistra. The accident happened on September 27 at around 11:40 p.m. in the section between the village of Kolarovo and the junction for the village of Garvan.
A Volkswagen car driven at an unreasonable speed by 47-year-old in the direction of Silistra, left the lane and overturned several times on the roadside.
The driver and his 18-year-old companion died on the spot, and two others, aged 35 and 16, were slightly injured. A fifth participant in the accident – an 18-year-old boy – escaped unhurt. A duty group has carried out an inspection, the reasons for the accident are being clarified. A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated.
A 54-year-old woman’s life is in danger after the accident between a Toyota SUV and a camper in the Dobrich region late last night, reported the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Dobrich.
The accident happened on the road between the villages of Rogachevo (Dobrich region) and General Kantarjievo (Varna region). A report was made at around 20:23. A 36-year-old driver behind the wheel of a Toyota SUV overtook and crashed head-on into an oncoming Mercedes camper with Austrian registration. As a result of the impact, the driver of the car died on the spot.
A 54-year-old woman and two children, respectively 14 and 16 years old, Austrian citizens, were traveling in the camper. Firefighters cut through the sheet metal of the van to get them out.
They were taken to the Multispecialty Hospital for Active Treatment (MBAL) “St. Anna” – Varna, and the woman was placed in intensive care with life-threatening fractures and contusions. The children have been placed for observation in children’s surgery, without injuries, the police in Dobrich also state.
Due to the rescue operations, procedural investigative actions and on-site inspections, the road in the section from the village of Rogachevo to the village of General Kantarjievo was closed for several hours last night. Traffic was diverted along a detour route through the village of Kranevo, k.k. “Golden sands” and the village of Kichevo.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
This morning, the Ministry of the Interior announced that five people died and 41 were injured in accidents in the country during the past 24 hours. There were 29 serious accidents.
