DTheir explosions occurred in Antwerp in the early hours of Sunday, local police confirmed. A first explosion took place in the district of Deurne, then a grenade exploded under a car parked in Borgerhout. The incidents did not result in any injuries.
A loud bang sounded in Deurne around quarter past three. The forensic laboratory and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Disposal Service (Sedee) attended the scene. “It is certainly not a grenade, but the investigation continues to find out what it was exactly”, explains Sven Lommaert, of the Antwerp police.

While crews were working in Deurne, another explosion was reported in Borgerhout. This time it was a grenade placed under a parked vehicle.
A house had previously been the target of a shooting on the night of Friday to Saturday in a side street, but the facts were not reported to the police until the afternoon. The incidents may be related.
The investigation into the two explosions and the shooting, as well as their possible connection to the drug community, is ongoing.
