Two employees of the nursing home Les Jardins de Chartres testify: “We thought the Orpea affair would solve things”

Like twenty other Ehpad Orpea employees, in Chartres, Samira and Élina went on strike last June, at the invitation of the CGT, to ask for better salary recognition.

The call for strike was renewed on Saturday in front of the Ehpad Orpea Les Jardins de Chartres

Since then, these two employees of Orpea’s only plant in Eure-et-Loir have contacted the Center-Val de Loire Regional Health Agency to inform them about their working conditions. Samira, an employee of this Ehpad for two years, raises:

“We thought the Orpea deal would fix things, but it was quite the opposite. There is still a lack of equipment and personnel. Some residents are malnourished. “

His colleague, Élina, has decided to change jobs. “I got burned. I will try to become a medical assistant. It is too difficult to see residents cry at night,” says the young woman.

The director of the Orpea Les Jardins de Chartres residence, Jean-Baptiste Touret, says he “does not understand” the complaints of his two employees, particularly the lack of equipment. “We have not encountered any particular difficulties in terms of supply”, he assures us.

Regarding the problems of malnutrition raised by employees, the director specifies:

“Most residents who enter the institution, as in any nursing home, are malnourished upon admission; this malnutrition is partly responsible for their loss of autonomy. We organize regular and personalized nutritional monitoring. “

On workforce management, the director replies: “We strive daily to ensure that our program is complete, overall we are having success. However, as in all sectors, we are sometimes faced with an unexpected absence, which we hasten to replace with a satisfactory success rate. “

Inspection. The Orpea nursing home in Chartres was inspected in 2021 by the ARS Center-Val de Loire. “We have demonstrated a quality of support in line with what is expected of an Ehpad. Some malfunctions, not serious, have been observed. We asked for better team coordination. Management has given us guarantees in this regard. It must also carry out a personalized support project for each resident ”, explains Gérald Naulet, deputy director of ARS in Eure-et-Loir.
