Two emergency generators for the fire brigade

In order to be prepared for a so-called blackout, the city of Ochsenhausen procured two emergency generators, which were handed over to the volunteer fire department. Mayor Philipp Bürkle and the local councilors were happy to be able to hand over not only two emergency power generators, but also a personnel transport vehicle, the city of Ochsenhausen said. The personnel carrier replaces a vehicle that was totaled in a storm last summer.

The two emergency power generators were newly purchased in order to be able to ensure power supply in the event of a large-scale and long-lasting power outage. The mobile devices with an output of 100 kVa or 55 kVA are intended to ensure that the critical infrastructure and administration can maintain emergency operations in the event of a crisis.

Mayor Bürkle emphasized that it took a little longer for the emergency generators to be delivered, but they are now well prepared in the event of a crisis. He thanked the volunteer fire department, which had dealt intensively with the issue and helped prepare the tender for the devices. “A lot of time was spent here and technical expertise was brought in to ensure that the devices met our needs exactly,” said Bürkle, praising the fire department.

The two emergency generators had already been ordered in 2022, but delivery was delayed. Fire brigade commander Torsten Koch thanked the city councilors for the far-sighted decision and also for the fact that the personnel transport vehicle could be recovered after it was totaled. As Mayor Bürkle noted, the fire department also showed particular commitment here and tried to procure a used vehicle in order to save costs. This was acknowledged by the local councilors with applause and a request to “keep it up”. (sz)
