Two Donegal GAA clubs, Four Masters GAA club and Baile na nGalloglach club, have called for the resignation of two members of the Donegal County Board, the County Children’s Officer and the County Coaching Officer. The issue comes amidst an ongoing academy controversy that has seen resigned 2012 All-Ireland winner Karl Lacey and senior manager Paddy Carr stepping down from their roles. The clubs have issued letters to the executive committee stating that the individuals should “immediately consider their positions on the Executive Committee and step down in the best interest of Donegal GAA.” The Four Masters club has further stated that due to the overwhelming support from clubs, Lacey should be returned as Head of the Academy. They have also requested that any elected officer that does not share this view or is not willing to support Lacey, should also “consider their own position on the Executive Board”. A motion of no confidence is also expected to be put against the two members of the Executive Committee tonight.
