HOUSTON, Texas – An elderly man died after being attacked by dogs while trying to stop them from inflicting injuries on his pet.
The event occurred in the neighborhood known as Greater Inwood, northwest of the city.
According to the authorities, the 69-year-old man saw how two of a neighbor’s dogs attacked his when he went to the patio of the house, which caused him to come out to defend him, not to mention that this would cost him his life.
(Preliminary information contained in the video published in this story indicated that the victim was 30 years old, but the police confirmed this Thursday that he was 69).
When the paramedics arrived at the house, they found the man still being attacked by the canines, which led to one of the officers having to shoot one of the dogs that, incidentally, also tried to attack him.
The home where the deadly incident occurred is located at 5500 Sheraton Oaks.
According to Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson, a hole in the fence dividing the two houses allowed the two animals to cross into the victim’s yard.
The animals that committed the attack were delivered to the Animal and Adoption Shelter BARC, where they will be sacrificed.
An officer and a bystander removed the driver from the car.
