In addition to the Vienna and Lower Austria Derby, there are two matches from Lower Austria vs. Styria on the weekend, the third between Sparkasse Korneuburg and Sportunion Leoben has to be postponed because BH Korneuburg is quarantining the team due to the recently known positive corona cases the Lower Austrian has imposed until Tuesday February 23.
UHC Hollabrunn, BT Füchse Auto Pichler, roomz JAGS Vöslau and Sportunion Leoben can no longer be ousted from the top 6 and will definitely fight for the best placement for the knockout round in the upper play-off. Two places are still vacant and five teams are fighting for them. Only the bottom of the table, Union Handball Club Tulln, has to come to terms with the qualifying round early on.
In the Vienna Derby on Saturday afternoon, two direct competitors face each other: HC FIVERS WAT Margareten II and WAT Atzgersdorf. In autumn Atzgersdorf won a 26:23 home win, which was fixed thanks to a ten-minute goal ban in the final phase. The Margaretner are currently four points behind Atzgersdorf and 6th place.
The sport union Die FALKEN Bachner Bau St. Pölten is facing a difficult away game at roomz JAGS Vöslau. The state capital must score points to have a chance of the upper play-off, while the JAGS can play freely.
The two leaders also have to play away. The UHC Hollabrunn is a guest at HIB Grossschädl Stahl Graz and could give the Styrians the “fatal blow” in the fight for the upper play-off. BT Füchse Auto Pichler is heading to the city of flowers to Tulln, the bottom of the table. Since the victory over Vöslau at the end of January, Tulln has suffered five defeats in a row, so mathematically has no chance of a place in the top 6.
