An action group has been blocking part of the Queen Máxima Barracks of the Marechaussee in Badhoevedorp, near Schiphol since early this morning. Two protesters from Stop the War on Migrants were arrested by the military police.
According to a spokesman, the two protesters had attached themselves to the main gate of the barracks. They ignored the order to break free and leave.
Despite the blockade, the main gate of the building is still in use. The activities of the Marechaussee can be carried out.
International protest
Demonstrations are still ongoing and a number of protesters have attached themselves to other fences at the barracks. But they are no longer attached to the main gate, the spokesman said.
The blockade is part of an international protest against, among others, the European border security agency Frontex, the European migration policy and the role of the military police in border security and deportations, the action group says.
