Two dead after mine collapse in Badiraguato, Sinaloa

The National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) reported that two workers died due to a collapse that occurred in a mine in the area known as El Potrero de Tepaca, municipality of Badiraguato, Sinaloa.

The agency of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), indicated that elements of the National Guard, in coordination with state and municipal Civil Protection authorities, managed to recover the bodies of two workers who had been trapped.

He explained that the collapse of earth and rocks occurred while workers were carrying out slope stabilization and sampling tasks to determine the viability of exploiting an old mine. There were five workers at the site engaged in various activities, of which two, aged 50 and 37, were unfortunately affected by the collapse.

The bodies were recovered quickly. No more people trapped or injured are reported.

After the tragedy, support and surveillance work continues at the site by the personnel of the National Guard, state and municipal Civil Protection, as well as Public Security and Municipal Transit, to secure the area and complete the necessary actions.
