Two days to appraise its forgotten treasures in Toulon and Draguignan

Is the collection of old postcards that sleeps in the attic of the family home really valuable? To get to the bottom of it, you can now go on TV, but also meet experts and auctioneers. Or rather the reverse. Maison Rossini, a Parisian auction house, has decided to reach out to potential sellers by organizing real provincial tours, which rely on their representatives present in the region. “We favor medium-sized cities” explains Charles Bisi, jewelry expert, who will be present alongside the auctioneer Romain Verlomme-Fried this Monday in Toulon and the next day in Draguignan.

At home if needed

“We haven’t been to Toulon for two years, it’s a city where we expect to find pieces representative of the arts of Asia and Africa, of which Romain is also a specialist” continues the expert. For two days, the duo will therefore receive by appointment and can travel to their homes if necessary. “After an initial sorting by telephone and photos, we appraise the property in person and can guide the person towards the best solution. Either it is a property that we can transport and present in our Parisian auction room, located opposite Drouot hotel, where we sell the best, either we direct it to a local auctioneer or an antique dealer. For example in Digne in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence a gentleman had brought us a batch of 100 albums of old pieces which had been dormant for 10 years in his garage following an inheritance and he came to Paris with his wife to attend the sale which brought him €70,000.

Very high gold price

Another example is that of a diamond in Nîmes, sold for €30,000… “At the moment the price of gold is very high, it is interesting to sell jewelry, its price could go down in some time” adds the expert. The Rossini house thus organizes jewelry sales every month but also quite often sessions dedicated to works of art and regular auctions of wine bottles, old toys, collector’s weapons, stamps… The tour will continue in the Vaucluse and the Alps in March then the Drôme in April.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday February 20 at the Best Western La Corniche 17 littoral Frédéric Mistral in Toulon and Tuesday February 21 at the Hôtel du Parc 21 bd de la Liberté in Draguignan. Contact: rossini.sud@rossini.fr
