Mexico City. In the first 48 hours of being published, the call for the Evaluation Committee of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) has not registered any registration of candidates for judges, magistrates and ministers.
The call was launched last Monday night. According to the Committee’s official microsite, between the 5:00 p.m. cuts on Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 6, no applications have been received.
“In order to comply with the instructions in article 19 of the Rules of Operation of the Evaluation Committee of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, of November 3, two thousand twenty-four, I inform you that until 5 p.m. today, no registration was submitted for the extraordinary electoral process 2024-2025,” he points out.
The PJF Evaluation Committee is one of the three, along with the federal Executive and the Legislative, that has the responsibility of being the first filter to select candidates for said judicial positions.
In accordance with the operating rules of the PJF Committee, they will normally meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., so tomorrow they will have to review the cuts for this Thursday and that same day.
In 2025, nine ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), five magistrates of the Judicial Disciplinary Court, two vacancies in the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Court will be elected by popular vote; ten female judges and five male judges from the Regional Chambers; in addition to 474 magistrates and 386 judges.
We are one month away from the deadline established by the Committee to conclude the review of compliance with the eligibility requirements of the applicants since the final lists will be published on December 9, 2024.
