Two cyclists killed after being hit by a car driven by a newly licensed driver: they were a couple married for 8 months

Two cyclists died this morning in Senigallia (Ancona) along the state road 16, hit by a car that stopped. The accident occurred shortly before 12, in the Ciarnin neighborhood, near the methane gas station. The traffic police and 118 were on site. There was nothing that could be done for the two people, who had no documents with them and therefore it was not possible to identify them. It would have been an Opel Corsa, driven by a young man with a new license, that hit the two cyclists who died this morning along the state road 16, in Senigallia (Ancona). The victims would have been a couple from the Doric province, between 30 and 40 years old. The impact was so violent that it was difficult to recognize the cyclists who had no documents.
Only a cell phone and the GPS of one of the two bicycles were recovered, a carbon model purchased in a specialist shop in Pianello di Ostra (Ancona). The cell phone, in the hands of the Ancona traffic police, rang. It was a friend of the two who provided information on their identity.
A second car, a Peugeot, was involved in the accident, as well as a third car carrying a child, who was taken to the Senigallia hospital for checks. The driver and passenger of the Opel that hit were also taken to the city hospital. The victims were wearing technical clothing, which suggests that they were regular cyclists. Investigations are underway.
The Opel that hit the two cyclists, according to an initial reconstruction, was traveling north while the victims were traveling south. It would have invaded the opposite lane, hitting them head-on. The dynamics of the accident are not yet entirely clear, it seems that the Opel hit the pair of cyclists and then impacted with other vehicles in transit.

The victims of the accident: a couple married for 8 months
Marco Torcianti, 47, and Sara Ragni, 36, are the two cyclists hit and killed by a car this morning in Senigallia, on state road 16. The couple, married for only eight months, were residents of Polverigi (Ancona).
The mayor Daniele Carnevali married them last December and today he expressed his dismay to the Ansa agency. “It is a tragedy that has struck a young couple, whom I married a few months ago – he says – with a very touching civil ceremony attended by the many friends of the couple. It is truly a great pity what happened and I am close to their families who are experiencing this tragedy”.
The 36-year-old’s family is originally from Agugliano and her brother is a manager of a football club.
Due to the accident, state road 16 was reopened at 3:30 p.m. after being closed for about four hours between Marzocca and Ciarnin. Heavy traffic was diverted onto the A14.
