North Macedonia and Albania may join the EU

Albania and North Macedonia have fulfilled all the conditions for starting negotiations on membership in the European Union.

The authorities of the European Union have reached an agreement on the expansion of the bloc. In the near future, it will include North Macedonia and Albania. This was announced by the Brussels correspondent of Radio Liberty Ricard Jozwiak in Twitter on Tuesday, December 14th.

“White smoke! We have conclusions about EU enlargement – unlike last year! North Macedonia and Albania,” he wrote.

There is no information on the official resources of the EU about the adoption of a fateful decision for North Macedonia and Albania so far.

We will remind, in September of this year, the former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that Albania and North Macedonia have fulfilled all the conditions for the start of negotiations on EU membership, however Bulgaria vetoed.

In turn, the head of the European Parliament David Sassoli called for the admission of the Western Balkans to the EU… Albania and North Macedonia are already officially candidate countries, and membership negotiations with Serbia and Montenegro are ongoing.
