The UAE digital government has confirmed that there are two conditions for citizens to obtain treatment abroad: the first is the lack of medical treatment within the country, and the second is the occurrence of an emergency while outside the country, noting that the treatment service abroad is provided through the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi.
In detail, the UAE Digital Government stated that if medical treatment is not available for citizen patients within the country, the UAE government, through its relevant health authorities, provides treatment services abroad.
It advised citizens of the country who wish to travel abroad for medical treatment for themselves or a member of their family, to contact the Ministry of Health and Community Protection to inquire about the country in which the required treatment is available.
She pointed out that after choosing the country, citizens can also contact the diplomatic mission of that country in the UAE to obtain additional information about accredited medical institutions.
After arriving in the desired country, citizens are advised to stay in touch with the UAE mission there through the “My Presence” service.
Application for the treatment abroad service is done through the smart application of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, and the website of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection. www.mohap.gov.ae.
The duration of completing the treatment service abroad at the Ministry is five working days, while the conditions and requirements for approval of the service stipulate the unavailability of appropriate treatment in the health facilities affiliated with the Ministry, or the occurrence of an emergency while the citizen is outside the country.
The documents required to request treatment abroad include a copy of a recent medical report issued by a government hospital in the country, a copy of the patient’s passport, a copy of the patient’s identity card, in addition to a copy of citizenship (record).
She pointed out that obtaining treatment service abroad through the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi is available to patients who have not found appropriate medical care, as they can apply to obtain treatment service outside the country, and if the patient is unable to submit a request for treatment abroad himself, anyone can He is authorized to submit the application on his behalf, and the Medical Committee’s decision is issued within two weeks. If the application is rejected, a request to reconsider the Medical Committee’s decision for treatment abroad can be submitted within 30 days from the date the application’s status changes.
She stressed that the state provides the best quality and efficient health services, while ensuring that all members of society enjoy these services, whether therapeutic, preventive or rehabilitative, as federal and local health authorities are diligent in preparing policies that will protect public health and regulate the health sector in the state, with the aim of creating A huge breakthrough in the reality of health services to achieve the aspirations of the Emirati society in terms of a promising future for the health sector characterized by excellence and sophistication.
